Prepare Your Surface:
Clean & Repair: Wipe down your walls to remove dust and dirt. Fill any holes or cracks, and sand smooth.
Prime: Apply an acrylic-based primer, especially important for non-porous surfaces like drywall. Allow it to dry fully.
Protect Surroundings:
Use painter's tape to shield baseboards, ceilings, and trim.
Lay down a drop cloth to cover your floors and furnishings.
Apply the First Coat:
Mix Thoroughly: Stir the limewash paint well... pigments naturally settle at the bottom.
Dip Your Brush: Use a block brush. Dip only the tip into the paint, avoid soaking the whole brush.
Apply with Movement:
Use irregular strokes, such as "X" shapes or cloud-like patterns.
Work in small sections to keep a wet edge, allowing for seamless blending.
Avoid Patterns:
Overlap your brushstrokes randomly. The beauty of limewash lies in its organic finish.
Dry Time:
Let the first coat dry for at least two hours before applying another layer or touch-ups.
